“With what we believe is a complete disregard by the U.S. Department of Education for due process to the company, hundreds of thousands of current students and alumni and more than 8,000 employees will be negatively affected”, ITT Educational Services Inc. said in a statement released Tuesday.

Students who were receiving federal financial aid such as a student loans or Pell Grants for attending ITT Tech may be able to have their student loans forgiven, according to the Department of Education, which oversees federal financial aid programs.

For students left behind by the closure of ITT Tech’s Jacksonville campus, local schools are stepping up to help them bounce back. “These are capable, highly motivated men and women who, through no fault of their own, can not continue to pursue their degrees at an institution that is under sanction”.
The programs that are transferable from ITT Tech to University College include IT, Knowledge Management and Creative Leadership.

ITT announced Tuesday it was closing the campuses because it can not survive recent sanctions by the U.S. Department of Education.
The chain was banned August 25 from enrolling new students who used federal financial aid, because, Education Department officials said, the company had become a risk to students and taxpayers. In fact, SCF officials say they have gotten a lot of calls from now-former ITT students.
