Penn State has a lot to prove, too, vs. MSU

Meyer stands to prove that he’s still the premier coach in the conference both by downing Harbaugh’s Wolverines and salvaging the season despite the loss to the Spartans. Both teams finished the regular season unbeaten and, to the disappointment of MI fans, Ohio State was picked to represent the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl.

Matt Charboneau: Ohio State has, apparently, gone from one of the best teams in the country to a fractured mess in less than a week. It is simple, if the Spartans win they win the Big Ten East, go to the Big Ten Championship Game, and still control their own destiny to make the College Football Playoff.

“We’re playing for a lot on Saturday”, he said.

Penn State is 1-4 ATS in its last five games.

No matter, the Spartans and Lions are in quite different places.

Nick: If you had asked me about this game before last week, I would have been more confident in Penn State’s chances, However, after seeing what their defensive line did to Ohio State, I no longer hold that optimism.

Decker said this isn’t about Meyer vs. Harbaugh, or an underachieving Ohio State against an overachieving MI. Special teams could also be factor.

The 1965 Spartans (10-1) won the UPI national title despite a Rose Bowl upset loss to UCLA that cost the Spartans the AP national title to Alabama’s inferior record of 9-1-1. Senior defensive tackle Willie Henry leads the group with 6.5 sacks. So how will these Lions respond to such circumstances? We all joined in a rousing rendition of “We Don’t Give A Damn”.

“I heard it was called “The Big House” for a reason”, Taylor said, a sophomore receiver who was offered by MI in September. Rest in peace to the young warrior, and for the Carr family, know my thoughts are with you during these times.

Penn State could hang around for a bit in this game, but in the end, the Spartans will be too much.

What’s really scary about MI is that they are only going to get better as Harbaugh brings in recruits and talent. He swears that his offensive line is better from that bad, 10-sack beginning at Temple.

While I am looking forward to the Florida-Florida State game on Saturday in Gainesville, I can not help but wonder what will happen when MI and Ohio State lock horns. That’s a big concern this week even if Connor Cook isn’t able to go – the backups would be more likely to utilize screens with confidence if the first defender to the ball is never able to make the play. Instead, both teams walked off the field with a 10-0-1 mark. However, the Spartan offense has not been very good without Cook this year. I think they have excellent players. Meanwhile, the Lions are desperately trying to find their footing as they continue building. Probably. (This was Tressel-ball, after all.) Like I said, nothing about that Ohio State game stands out.

Coming off a win the week before, the Buckeyes are 29-21-2.

I’m expecting more struggles from Hackenberg and the offense. By the time that grudge match kicks off at noon Saturday I’ll be sampling The Leftovers.

The folks over at Taiwanese Animators are a well-known internet commodity at this point, and they rarely ever disappoint when they come out with a new video.

“But the progress is there”. “It’s not even the pressure to repeat, because that’s this huge, abstract thing you look at at the beginning of the year”.

They are taking a most unique approach to protecting their orchards in MI. I suppose they might be putting a lot of weight on the in-state stuff, but there’s no way Michigan State is a bigger rival than Ohio State.

The big question, though: Could increased kestrel numbers affect those funky black squirrels thriving on Michigan State’s campus and around East Lansing?
