He was filled with emotion Saturday.
A Pennsylvania bride who lost her father to tragedy 10 years ago found herself walking down the aisle with the man who received his heart.
Thomas says he was on death’s door, and if it had not been for her father’s heart, Thomas would have died a few days later. “I feel like my family’s complete”.
The families kept in touch through letters over the years but it wasn’t until Friday ― one day before the Pittsburgh wedding ― that they finally met face to face. Arthur will walk her down the aisle. Everyone gathered at St. Anslem Church in Swissvale, where the ceremony would take place. “It’s like everybody’s here”, Jeni Stepien said.
“Just hugging him made me feel like I was close to my dad again which on this day was ideal”.
“Just hugging him made me feel like I was close to my dad again which on this day was flawless”, said Michelle Stepien, Jeni’s sister. However, there was even more to this special meeting. “And she said, ‘Tom, I’m the daughter of the man whose heart’s inside you, and I’m gonna get married on August 6th”. Jeni asked Arthur if he would be willing to walk her down the aisle in honor of her father and he agreed.

And after he got the okay from his daughter, Thomas was more than happy to say yes. “And, you know, other people see that organ donors do matter”.
