Pennsylvania prosecutor faces pressure to resign
The jury in the trial found Kane guilty of all charges which included two counts of perjury and 10 misdemeanor counts of abusing the powers of her office. A jury has convicted her of leaking grand jury information and lying about it under oath.

When she took office four years ago Kathleen Kane, the first Democrat and first woman elected Pennsylvania attorney general, was thought to have a promising political career ahead of her.
Kane said in an August 10, 2015, statement that a campaign of political retribution had been launched against her long before the allegations at the center of the criminal complaint.
Kathleen Kane, was found guilty of all nine counts including conspiracy, official oppression and perjury.
Kane faces jail time. They accurately portrayed Kane as a woman scorned, furious over an unflattering newspaper article she believed had been leaked by a former prosecutor to make her look bad.
On Monday, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele called the conviction “a sad day for the commonwealth”.
And he acknowledges he lied to a grand jury about it. “The evidence was overwhelming in that regard”.
The jurors began reviewing the case against Democrat Kathleen Kane on Monday after hearing closing arguments.
Governor Tom Wolf called on Kane to resign immediately.
Assistant District Attorney Michelle Henry joined the chorus of those denouncing Kane’s actions. Polls predict that Clinton will win big in Philadelphia and its suburbs, but, Horn says, it has to be big enough to counter what her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, could do in the rest of the state.
Kane showed little emotion as the verdict was announced. Her twin sister, Ellen, also showed no reaction.
“Her decision to resign is the right one, and will allow the people of Pennsylvania to finally move on from this situation”, Wolf said in a statement.
The defense intentionally did not have Kane testify. But there were times the testimony veered into what prosecutors called Kane’s taste for “cloak and dagger” techniques.
“It’s a strategy”, Shargel said.
Ultimately, the 50-year-old Kane was undone by what prosecutors portrayed as a personal vendetta for her critics.
NORRISTOWN Flashing a confident smile, Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane told a judge Friday that she will not testify at her perjury trial.
County prosecutors allege they discovered evidence that Kane signed a so-called “secrecy oath” on her second day in office on January 17, 2013, promising her secrecy for statewide investigating grand juries one through 32.
“With the heroin epidemic endangering the lives of our residents on a daily basis, and ongoing battles against organized crime and child predators, the people of this state deserve and need a functional attorney general”.
Kathleen Kane is escorted out of the courtroom by a security agent.
She lost her law license over the charges and is fighting pressure to step down.
