A auto plowed into a disabled vehicle on the side of I-95 in Fairfield early Friday morning.
A two-vehicle accident occurred just north of exit 19 and as troopers are talking with those involved in the crash, Rojas can be seen driving into the two vehicles parked on the right shoulder and the cruiser.
The driver of the Nissan, Yoni Rojas, 21, of Bridgeport, was arrested on several motor vehicle charges, in addition to the criminal charge of Reckless Endangerment.
He is scheduled to face court today.
Connecticut State Police Yoni Rojas, 21, crashed into a sidelined vehicle on Friday and was hit with a slew of charges.
The driver of the speeding vehicle was identified as Rojas.
People were standing on road’s right shoulder when a Nissan Maxima, traveling at what police said was a high rate of speed, smashed into one of the vehicles, pushing it across two lanes of the highway. The drivers and a cruiser were inches from being struck as well.
While state police said the incident is not a “Move Over Law” violation, it “stresses the dangers of being stopped on the highway, even if you are in the shoulder”.
Rojas suffered minor injuries but no one involved in the earlier crash was injured, according to state police. They also said that it shows “one of the many reasons motorists are required to move over when approaching stopped emergency vehicles”.
