People Arrested As #BlackLivesMatter Protests Shut Down Mall of America

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport police are out in full force to ensure smooth Christmas Eve travel a day after a mass protest led to disruptions. The protest at the mall lasted for almost 30 minutes before protesters were ordered to leave.

Hennepin County District Court Judge Karen Janisch barred three protest organizers named as defendants in the mall’s lawsuit from attending the demonstration, but she limited her order to them.

Jeezy openly voiced his support of the Black Lives Matter group, most especially, the recent protests at the Mall of America. Susan Gaertner, an attorney representing the mall, said it does not allow any demonstrations on the property.

“Black Xmas is here and there will be no business as usual until we get accountability for our dead, and justice for the living”, the activist group said in a statement.

The entire protest stemmed from the shooting death of 24-year-old Jamar Clark.

Protesters also shut down light-rail service to other stations by standing on the tracks, forcing Metro Transit to send buses to transfer commuters as evening rush hour traffic began. Mall officials tried to block the protest, arguing the mall was on private property, but a judge only barred three organizers from attending.
