Chief minister Chouhan , with a crack team comprising ministers Manoranjan Mishra, Rampal Singh, Bhoopender Singh and Gyan Singh and party general secretary (organisation) Arvind Menon, ran a counter-campaign against the Congress that began by “educating” cadres on the “facts” of Vyapam and supplying talking points. Allegations of rampant corruption surfaced in professional examinations conducted by Madhya Pradesh Pro essional Examination Board (MPPEB), also known as Vyapam, after RTI queries showed alleged involvement of top functionaries of state government offices.

The reply, received from the Madhya Pradesh Trade and Investment Facilitation Corporation Limited by whistle blower Ajay Dubey in July, revealed that during the visit to the US to meet American business leaders and potential investors, the delegation spent Rs198,421 on gifts. Similarly, the BJP won 27 of the state’s 29 parliamentary seats in the 2014 parliamentary elections and now has completed the circle by its unprecedented victory in all 16 municipal corporations of the state. “People have punished the Congress for its politics of defamation”, the statement said.

“The chief minister was planning another foreign tour to Sweden recently, but this was cancelled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.

“MP civic poll results are gladdening”. The BJP used its win to build the atmospherics for the 1996 Lok Sabha polls when it harvested a bounty from the heartland. “There have been attempts of defaming my state”, he added while hitting out at the opposition. The BJP has repeatedly made its mark as Congress leaders are unable to put up a united front before the electorate.
