City announced that Manuel Pellegrini will be replaced by Pep Guardiola in the summer after weeks of speculation.
“With Pep, with the multi-million pound outlay they’ve made and will spend with him, I expect the pressure to be higher for them”.
City are due to fly to Kiev for their Champions League last-16 clash on February 22, and Pellegrini wanted the FA Cup clash brought forward to give his squad more time to recover, warning he now has no choice but to play a youthful side.
“I think that the fans enjoy that, I am very happy that the club is happy with me but this is a job and you have to think about other things also”. “I can not say something every week about it”, said Guardiola, who rejected a contract extension with Bayern a year ago.
“But I know how to handle it and I will do that for the next four months”.
“It’s important for everyone to know that I knew what was happening and that no one was doing anything behind my back”, Pellegrini told reporters on Friday. “We coaches don’t earn respect any more in the world, no matter what we say”.
“There are respectable papers here that have not asked me a single question on football in these three years”.
However, the 45-year-old refused to divulge any more details about his City switch, with the Bundesliga leaders set to visit fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
In terms of potential targets, Paul Pogba’s name has been mentioned of late as City are set to lose current midfield maestro Yaya Toure at the end of the season.
Neymar’s tax woes in Spain have led many to believe that he could be forced out of Barcelona despite enjoying the best season of his career in Spain playing alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
