Pep Guardiola could reject Manchester City as Bayern manager and his family

The former Barcelona manager is in his third and final year of his contract at Bayern Munich and Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted that they have yet to start negotiations over extending his stay.

Rummenigge could not be drawn on whether Guardiola would continue beyond the 2015-16 campaign, choosing instead to hint that Pep Guardiola was not irreplaceable. He’s not done any harm to his reputation since then with Bayern, either.

‘The town is insane.

According to the bookies, Manchester City are considered the most likely alternative option for Guardiola.

The report stated that he would prefer taking over at Old Trafford rather than succeed Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City. “There is not a person in the world who some time does not have to be replaced”.

But City’s window of opportunity is short.

Bayern Munich are determined to secure Guardiola’s services and are eager to get his signature on a new contract when his term comes to an end next June.

In 2012, he had dinner with Sir Alex Ferguson in NY where, supposedly, his future as manager of Man United was discussed, with Ferguson seeing him as the ideal successor. At 66 years old, Wenger has 19 months remaining on his current contract, and the Arsenal manager hinted earlier this season that it may be his last. But it’s an idea of such romanticism that it’s still considered a big risk if he was to walk into the job straight away. The rumour mill is hotting up, as expected, with both Manchester clubs searching for Guardiola, the flawless fit for their future. “I know how hard it is to be ready every three days”.

He said: “It is important to be a solid, consistent team and to recover our normal style of play and that will give us the points we need to win it”. What happens next will certainly be interesting…
