Pep Guardiola wanted to be Arsenal boss, claims famous fan

Seaman won two of his three top-flight titles under Wenger in 1997-98 and 2001-02, but the former England goalkeeper believes failing to lift a further championship since Arsenal’s 2003-04 triumph weighs heavily on Wenger. With the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes possibly slipping away, former players Paul Merson and Ray Parlour also publicly criticised Wenger this week. Mohamed Elneny doesn’t look ready to play regularly yet and Mathieu Flamini certainly isn’t the answer, so it looks like we’ll stick with Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin on Saturday. Ospina has not played much since then but he has played in the FA cup and would surely have been set to do so again on Tuesday.

With Arsenal trying to force an equaliser from a corner, the 33-year-old went forward to score an unlikely goal but when the ball was cleared he pulled up running back.

“It’s normal. Why do you want people to be happy when you lose?” You never know. Football is not an ordinary business.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has described the possibility of Tottenham Hotspur winning the Premier League as “the ultimate nightmare” for Gunners fans and believes Saturday’s north London derby is the most important he has “ever known”.

The Colombia worldwide came in for criticism after a big mistake in the Champions League defeat to Olympiacos earlier this season but Wenger has backed his man to step up now he is needed.

He said: “I have complete confidence in Ospina, I don’t worry about that”. “So honestly, I’m not anxious at all about that”, Wenger said.

Ahead of today’s game Wenger has responded to Henry’s comments.

But reports in France, via L’Equipe journalist Karim Nedjari, claim Wenger’s time at Arsenal is coming to an end, with Thierry Henry lined up to replace him.

That damaging sequence has seen them slip to fourth, 10 points behind leaders Leicester – albeit with a game in hand – having previously been regarded as favourites.

“You have to take these comments a bit into perspective”, Wenger said.
