Pepe was the best player at Euro 2016, not Griezmann – Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo believes France striker Antoine Griezmann should not have won the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016.

“I am proud to be a finalist, that means I am on the right track and have to continue that way”.
The France global has been nominated alongside Real Madrid duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Cristiano Ronaldo believes Portugal and Real Madrid team-mate Pepe should have been named the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016 ahead of Antoine Griezmann.
They are also said to be in the race to sign James Rodriguez from Real Madrid, who is claimed to be available for transfer, with Chelsea also keen. “He’s a great professional, a great person and, in my opinion, his biggest quality is his ability to give his players a sense of calm”.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t win a trophy and it was a blow for us, as well as for our fans”.
“To be honest I didn’t think Portugal could win the Euros”. In the Champions League we did what we had to do – and went on to win it.
“It has been an unforgettable season, first in the Champions League with Atletico, then Euros with France”, he added. “It was possibly his best season. After winning the Champions League, winning the European Championship with my country capped an extraordinary year for me”.
“I have to give a big thanks to all my teammates at worldwide level and club level”.
Ronaldo was also full of praise for manager Zinedine Zidane, after the French legend took over from Rafa Benitez mid-season to lead his side to their 11 Champions League crown.
