Pepsi Is Launching Smartphones In China
Ultimately it’s all about product differentiation in a crowded Android marketplace; as of August there are said to a few 1,294 different Android makers, so although it may seem somewhat quirky or odd, at least a Pepsi branded phone will stand out from the crowd, be it in name only.

According to a new leak, PepsiCo has signed an agreement with an unknown vendor in China to produce a Pepsi-inspired smartphone. The handset will have 5.5-inch screen along with a finger print scanner.
A second Weibo post tipped an October. 20 launch date.
According to one customer, the new diet pepsi is “sickly sweet”.
The phone looks to be pretty skinny; the leaked specs suggest a phone that’s 0.30-inches thick.
What’s more, it’s alleged that device is called the Pepsi P1, and will feature the signature red, white, and blue logo on the back. There’s no word yet about whether Pepsi designed this phone itself or partnered with another company/manufacturer, such as Huawei or HTC or Asus.
Pepsi said it has no plans to get into the mobile phone manufacturing business, a PepsiCo spokeswoman said by email. The official announcement is rumored to take place on October 20. Nothing fancy. The P1 will reportedly retail for around $200 in China (£130) and no one really expects it anywhere else in the world. It will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. Anyway, for the sake of this report let’s see what Pepsi P1 has to offer in terms of specs.

The phone will have a variant, the transparent Crystal P1. PepsiCo had previously partnered with Danish electronics company Bang & Olufsen and Italian shoemaker Del Toro shoes for accessories and apparel.
