Percocet Found in Prince’s System At Time of His Death

Prince was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m. April 21, shortly after members of his staff found the singer collapsed in an elevator in his residence and called 911. “Results are pending. This is an ongoing investigation in partnership w/ Carver County Sheriff’s Office. We will have no further comment at this time”.

The reports came in the wake of an announcement that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Attorney’s Office are joining the investigation into Prince’s death.

Andrew Kornfeld was interviewed by investigators from the sheriff’s office on April 21 and returned to California that night, Mauzy said.

The pre-med student who called 911 following the discovery of Prince’s lifeless body could face criminal charges.

Andrew Kornfeld is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz, where he studied neuroscience and psychology.

Kornfeld’s schedule was packed, but he sent his son Andrew on a red-eye flight to discuss treatment options with Prince. Persuading at-risk patients to seek help is something “he has done for years”, Mauzy told reporters. Mauzy cleared that Andrew meant to give the medication to Prince’s local doctor in Minnesota, and not to the singer.

Kornfeld isn’t a doctor, but works with his father Howard Kornfeld in his private outpatient addiction treatment clinic in downtown Mill Valley.

The drug contains acetaminophen and oxycodone and is used to treat pain.

The news comes one day after a prominent addiction specialist Dr. Howard Kornfeld revealed that he was contacted by Prince’s representatives about treating him for a drug addiction.
