Ryan Vogelsong hasn’t had great luck in 2016. Asked to make a start, he was hit in the face by a pitch, which sidelined him for over two months.

Padres: LHP Christian Friedrich (4-7, 4.76 ERA) will start Thursday in the finale of the three-game series and look to end his five-game losing streak that covers seven starts since June 23. He has gone 2-0 with a 3.91 ERA in five starts with the Pirates this season and 6-3 with a 2.37 ERA in 16 starts for Indianapolis.
