Perez: Impossible to improve Real Madrid squad

The club’s most extravagant spree came seven years ago, when they shelled out close to 259 million on no fewer than nine players ahead of the 2009/10 campaign. But will Los Blancos live to regret it?

Malaga president Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani has hinted Real Madrid midfielder Isco could return to the club.

But Perez says he is happy with the squad and with his side’s start to the new season.

“We have already claimed the European Super Cup and won the first two games [in La Liga]. We have a spectacular squad and it’s impossible to improve it”, Perez said during an event to announce a new commercial agreement with Hankook Tire.

Madrid has monitored David Alaba and Marco Verratti, but both players were unavailable this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur were reported this morning to have been offered another midfielder, Isco, on a season-long loan.

La Liga rivals Barcelona have signed six players, including Spain forward Paco Alcacer from Valencia on Tuesday.

It’s true that Isco will probably have to do perform at a brilliant level if he wants to sit Casemiro on the bench, given that Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are undisputed starters for this team. The Frenchman, however, is still a relatively inexperienced coach at this level and a poor performance in 2016-17 could yet make Perez regret the club’s lack of investment this summer.
