School District spokeswoman Kathy Burstein said the pep rally was for the Florida Standards Assessments test. One parent, Heather Cyr, told the Post that her son sent her a video of the incident. He said he is expected to be released from the hospital Friday. Officials said 20 other students were treated at the scene. Eight other people, seven of them students, were hospitalized after breathing fire extinguisher dust, Delray Beach Fire Rescue Capt. Ed Beardsley told NBC station WPTV.

“She got out, by the grace of God”, Wilson says.

The fire breather was reportedly hired at the event created to get the students excited about upcoming exams.

The students were being treated for non-life threatening injuries, but the adult was listed in serious condition.

It wasn’t immediately clear why the performer caught fire.
