However, in slightly more than one month of the tvOS App Store’s launch, the number of apps available for download for Apple TV has gone up to 2,624 apps.

The data from appFigures shows that the largest category of apps for Apple TV are games, making up 38 percent of the apps available for Apple TV.
The Apple TV App Store may have vastly more games than anything else, but when you examine the most popular app categories, games come in a distant second place. Now if you’re thinking about getting your hands on the Apple TV but were anxious about potentially a lack of apps, it seems that you really don’t have to worry. Right now, unlike the remote control, the app doesn’t allow users to access Siri, Apple’s voice assistant technology, on the TV. Right now, 39 percent of the apps are paid with the remaining 61 percent free. Cue confirmed the Apple TV has “over 2,000 apps” available in the App Store. After Games is the Entertainment category, that makes up for roughly 17% with 417 apps, and on number three is Education with 175 apps or 7% contribution. The social media platform for photo editing and sharing has been ranked fifth in the App Store.
According to Apple, it wants to bring several gaming and entertainment apps into Apple TV. It appears it is doubtful about the device, that it will not prove to be as successful as iPhone 6. I still believe that the Apple TV has tremendous potential for apps that provide new and innovative forms of interactivity, but early adopters seem to be voting for passive entertainment.
“We’re seeing tremendous developer interest”, Cue told BuzzFeed News. Games on Apple TV don’t offer a high-end gaming experience, like Xbox, PlayStation or even mobile gaming; instead its a hybrid of console and mobile games.

But let’s look at what apps are actually being installed on Apple TV … it is not games.
