Persona 5 Will Have Online Features, Here are the Details

Persona 5 is going to be a strictly single player affair, but it will have some kind of online functionality, too- it’s going to be a lot like passive Miiverse implementation in some Wii U games, or like the Dark Souls series’ notes. The player is free to choose whether they use network functions or not. It’s not a true multiplayer mode, but as Twinfinite points out, it’s similar to the networked features of Persona 4 Golden for the PS Vita.

Battle – In battle, an ally can be taken hostage when they’re knocked out.

A network element called “Phantom Thief Alliance” adds a new way of enjoyment.

If discovered in a dungeon, the Caution Degree Meter rises, and security gets tighter. If you refuse demands for an item and fail negotiations, your ally will no longer be able to battle. Similarly, being online and connected to the Alliance can help to stop enemies from running away during combat; this is important because when they flee, they increase a caution meter, which makes exploration more hard. But by using the Phantom Thieves Alliance, you can receive help from other players. As in past games, when you’re not venturing through dungeons, you have time after school to do different things. When you’re being a normal high-schooler you can also check out recorded videos of other players battles and have your answers to questions in class compared to others online. Persona 5 is set to arrive in Japan on September 15, but those in North America will have to wait until Valentine’s Day of next year. This time the developer Atlus has revealed Persona 5 online features. While normally you would have to negotiate the terms of their release, if you’re online someone else can do it on your behalf.
