Pete Carroll: Marshawn Lynch’s “bags are packed” to play Sunday’s playoff at

When the two teams faced off a season ago in the NFC playoffs in Seattle, the Seahawks were a rather solid favorite to beat Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.

Lynch also participated in practices last week, with Carroll indicating after the final practice Friday that he would play.

Coach Pete Carroll had said about an hour before Lynch got on the bus that the star’s “bags are packed”. “You can see that he made an improvement”.

Marshawn Lynch, the most reported bus passenger since Rosa Parks, did indeed board one that took the Seahawks to SeaTac Airport Friday afternoon.

Now to see if the running back can carry the mail for the Seahawks on Sunday in a divisional playoff game against the Carolina Panthers.

Lynch did not play against the Minnesota Vikings last week due to not being 100 percent from his abdominal injury/surgery.

Lynch is listed as probable after practicing without limitation all three days this week. “We’ll make sure we watch and see how he’s doing and how much we can play him”.

While assumptions can be unsafe with Lynch, all indications this week have been that he’s on track to play Sunday for the first time in more than two months.

In Lynch’s absence, the Seahawks have enjoyed strong running from Thomas Rawls, Christine Michael and Bryce Brown with Carroll excited about the club’s new-found depth at the position discovered after Lynch went down.

Lynch this year hasn’t played since Week 10 and has since undergone surgery on his abdomen which has kept him out since then. Instead, Lynch told the team after practice that he did not feel ready.

“It’s an awesome sign for us”, Carroll said. The back known as “Beast Mode” has averaged 16.6 carries and 60.6 yards in five games against the Panthers since 2012. I don’t think nobody is going to be letting up on nothing.

“Any time you have Marshawn, it’s a great thing”, quarterback Russell Wilson said Thursday. Seattle hasn’t run that scheme nearly at all with Michael at running back.

The only Seahawk in danger of sitting out Sunday is fullback Will Tukuafu (hamstring), who’s doubtful.
