Jenna Coleman, who plays monster fighting teacher Clara Oswald, is leaving at the end of season 9 after first appearing on Doctor Who in 2012. If this is the end, what is her legacy?
And Peter has now revealed that this Saturday’s episode, Face The Raven, will be her swansong. “That was a very new thing in Doctor Who – to have somebody who lived on an estate, and had a much earthier sound to their voice”, Capaldi explained. I don’t want to go into the details of it, but it’s sad’.
He was asked if Clara might make a return, to which he replied: “Sometimes people can’t come back. Sometimes things happen that they can’t come back from”.
At one point it was thought that Coleman would bow out at the end of the last series. It was announced in September that Jenna Coleman would be departingDoctor Who after a three-year tenure on the show in order to play Queen Victoria in the upcoming ITV series Victoria.
Tomorrow’s episode will see the return of Rigsy (Joivan Rade), who was introduced in the Season 8 episode “Flatline”, and Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams as Ashildr. “As well as the Sea Devils I do have a couple of others in my mind, but I might be doing those so I’m not telling you what they are!” “When I asked her what she was doing she said, ‘You were in my light.’ But she is lovely”.
The Scottish star added: “She is 18 and speaks a whole different language and she’s taught me a lot of new cool things to say like “ape” which means “great, ‘ so it’s the new ‘sick, ‘ which has taken over from ‘wicked”.
