Peter Dinklage is being replaced as Destiny’s robotic guide

Bungie has gone to veteran voice actor Nolan North to take on the voice, and not only will he be the Ghost in the new expansion, but they have gone back and erased all of Peter Dinklage’s dialogue, effectively killing Dinklebot.

Dinklage has not contributed new lines for the character since the base game was released.

Bungie have announced that Peter Dinklage will not reprise his role as The Ghost in the upcoming expansion for Destiny, The Taken King. While Destiny had its fair share of faults, a lot of people were left disappointed by Dinklage’s uninspired voice acting.

They really wanted me to put my stamp on it. They let me bring what I wanted to the role. It would help if there was an in-game codex for these terms, but the only way you can learn about them is by looking up the unorganized Grimoire Card system on the Destiny app (when you can just go to Wiki by that point).

If players end up disliking this new take on the character, Bungie can give Troy Baker a call next. “There are definitely some weapons that you are going to find better versions of – there’s going to be something that replaces that sniper rifle that you love”.

A pretty dramatic turnaround in talent but when your game costs half a billion dollars to make, you might want to smooth out some of the rough edges. “If I get a chance to continue with the role, I think we can evolve Ghost as we move forward over the years”. Starting with The Taken King this September, North will voice all of the little bugger’s lines.
