Peter Memorial Day ceremony to add powerful reminders

Please consider giving your time to attend to see how the Combined Veterans Posts honor veterans in this very humbling service. The Vietnam Veterans Association will honor all those who died in the Vietnam War at 10 a.m. Monday at the Durango Vietnam Memorial Ceremony.

Volunteers diligently followed instructions from Beth Linn, chairperson of the Scotts Bluff/Banner County Veteran’s Service Office, about how and where to place the flags before setting off to find their assigned locations.

Siuslaw Elementary School second graders shared their gratitude for Florence veterans during a ceremony Monday, May 16, at the Veteran’s Memorial Park on Bay Street. Following the service, a potluck will be held at Fern Town Hall.

FARMER CITY – Memorial Day services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 30 at City Park in Farmer City.

“One of the main highlights of the event every year is the Avenue of Flags dedication, which is where we add new flags… that large display that flies every Friday prior to Memorial Day during our ceremony and every Friday prior to Veterans Day”, Ledford said. A program will follow at the Bloomer Veterans Memorial. From 7-9 a.m., there will be a biscuits and gravy breakfast, free to all veterans and $5 for all non-veterans. The parade begins at 8 p.m. and the memorial ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Spring into Summer with Old Tucson A collaborative effort by the Arizona Sonora Western Heritage Foundation and Old Tucson, this Saturday, May 28 through May 30 Old Tucson will kick-off summer.

The ceremony also prepares the Church Green and Veterans Memorial Plaza in front of Town Hall for the annual Memorial Day Parade the next day.

Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day was first observed May 30, 1868. “We’re honoring the veterans”.

VFW Post 454 will hold a ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the grave of John Kraus in the Danvers Cemetery. The parade will feature the Sheridan High School Band, American Legion members and service vehicles among other entries. If raining the service will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2405 Waldon Way, St. Cloud. This year’s grand marshal is Tom Buchanan, a U.S. Army veteran and current commander of American Legion Post 19.
