“I think this is it. Definitely I think just no words to say what I was feeling on the court”. It is the biggest day of my life.

Radwanska was now on top and it was Muguruza who was now struggling, losing her serve in the second game and going 4-1 down.

Poland’s Radwanska secured the 50th win of her season by beating Muguruza, who like Sharapova had come through unbeaten in the round-robin stage.

6-1 win over Simona Halep in the Red group on Thursday, Agnieszka Radwanksa opined that had she lost the first set tie-breaker, she would have thrown in the towel.

Kvitova, who continues to battle mononucleosis, stopped the rot to claim her first game of the second set, screeching in delight at a forehand victor as she attempted to stir herself into action.

Radwanska then took the second set 6-3 and the momentum had shifted towards the Pole. It was an up-and-down match, but it doesn’t matter how I did it, just that I won.

Radwanska’s route to the title was full of twists and turns.

The contrasting styles were evident from the outset as Muguruza used her power from the back of the court and Radwanska countered with precision.

Tennis superstar Maria Sharapova came into the WTA Finals in Singapore with no pressure, even though she didn’t have a match since July and the fact that she endured various arm and leg injuries during a significant layoff.

There were four evenly split breaks in the opening six games of the third set, but when Radwanska broke once again to go 4-3 in front, she then ended the sequence of breaks by holding, which left her one game away from victory.

Radwanska wore down Kvitova in three sets on Sunday to win her first WTA Finals title in Singapore.

Muguruza greeted the decisive point with a fist pump and a roar but her play at the start of the second set belied her positive body language as Radwanska forced a plethora of errors to race to a 4-0 lead that she never looked like relinquishing.

The double Wimbledon champion finally got on the scoreboard in the third game thanks to a pair of aces but unable to make any inroads on the Radwanska serve, the Czech recorded a third double fault in as many games to cough up yet another break.

With her 17th title, Radwanska moves to $21.3 million in career earnings and will finish the year as the world number five.

Earlier, Swiss veteran Martina Hingis and India’s Sania Mirza crowned a stunning year for their partnership by winning their ninth doubles title.
