Peyton Manning says Al Jazeera ‘backpedaling’ on doping report
Al Jazeera claimed that source Charlie Sly worked there in 2011 while Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was treated for an injury. In the report, titled “The Dark Side”, British hurdler Liam Collins goes undercover to expose the widespread use of performance-enhancing drugs in global sports.

So in an accusation of PED use itself, Cole said, the NFL can’t ignore it and must pursue it as aggressively as it did Deflategate or be subject to backlash from the league for inconsistent discipline.
Manning, three members of the Green Bay Packers – Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers and Mike Neal – and Steelers outside linebacker James Harrison were all named in the report.
“The allegation that I would do something like that is complete garbage and is totally made up. It never happened. Never”.
Of course, at this point, proving when Manning may have used any banned substances is less important than proving or even suspecting that he used them at all.
He’s not alone, either. They’re now defending and clarifying their story and Ryan smith as the latest.
“It’s inexcusable and irresponsible that Al Jazeera would provide a platform and broadcast outright lies about Mr. Howard and Mr. Zimmerman”.
The Guyer Institute website crashed Monday after Al Jazeera accused Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning of using HGH. Defamation lawsuits involving public figures require proof of “actual malice”, towards the plaintiff, which means Manning would have to prove that Al-Jazeera not only aired false statements, but that they were well aware that the statements they aired were false.
Matthews said after Sunday night’s game against the Cardinals that the report was “100% falsified, fabricated information”. Even Sly backed off his recorded statements.
The report is based on secret recordings made of Charles Sly, a former intern at a Indianapolis treatment center. Sly claimed the packages were sent to Manning – then a player for the Indianapolis Colts – under his wife’s name, Ashley Manning.
Al Jazeera claimed that its source, Sly, was a pharmacist at the Guyer Institute, but Sly told ESPN he isn’t a pharmacist and was not at the institute in 2011, but two years later.
“I’ve seen that look on his face before, and his tone of voice”. I’ve never talked to him.
Davies said that Al Jazeera is working on follow-ups.
Doesn’t speak well of Al Jazeera’s credibility. First place takes home $100,000!

“The start date we have, where we signed for him, was 10/17/11”, says one “Heather” from the Guyer Institute after Al Jazeera reporter Deborah Davies asks for the timeline. “And people who don’t have enough of it usually need replacements of it”.
