Peyton Manning to retire

Elway acquired all-pros and drafted future Pro Bowlers, changed personnel, fired a successful coach, brought in ally Gary Kubiak and gave Manning the best defense in the league.

Along the way Manning hinted heavily toward retirement, including some telling remarks to New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. But he just won a Super Bowl with Manning under center!

Since the Denver Broncos went into Super Bowl 50 and had their way with the Carolina Panthers, the question on everyone’s mind has been whether or not Peyton Manning will be calling it a career after capturing his second Lombardi Trophy. Elway has a few contracts he needs to restructure to keep the team in tact, and given that Ryan Clady and DeMarcus Ware have already agreed, Manning should follow.

Now, if he is retiring because the Broncos want to part ways with him, that is equally stupid on their part. Suh’s deal is for six years at $114 million with $60 million guaranteed.

In a report by Christian Post, Manning shared how he aims to become a good role model to those who look up to him.

Jackson has his hand out as well. He ended the season, and perhaps his career, a champion.

According to the Denver Post, the Denver Broncos are expected to use the exclusive franchise tag on pass rusher Von Miller. Presumably, that means Manning’s announcement will be made by March 5. Of course, GM John Elway likely hopes Manning calls it quits and takes the team’s decision out of its hands. Wide receivers would cost just under $14.6 million, followed by linebackers ($14.1 million), cornerbacks (just under $14 million) and offensive linemen ($13.7 million).

Manning is arguably one of the greatest regular-season quarterbacks of all-time. There isn’t a viable replacement on the roster nor are the options in free agency particularly appealing.

As Manning deliberates, the Broncos have begun negotiations with Osweiler on a multiyear contract extension.

“I’m excited about it”, Elway said Thursday at the NFL Combine. He added, Peyton Manning is saying goodbye; it’s been lots of fun.
