Peyton Manning will ‘always remember’ this game

When the game was tied at 17 in the fourth quarter and when Kansas City was driving, Alex Smith threw another interception.

Peyton Manning became the second National Football League quarterback to surpass 70,000 career passing yards as he warded off predictions of his demise with a dramatic performance on Thursday.

Peyton Manning threw for a total of 256 yards, including three touchdowns during Thursday night’s game against the Chiefs.

“It’s one of the hardest feelings right now that I’ve felt in a long time”.

Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall managed to pop the ball from Charles’ grasp, and Bradley Roby scooped it up.

On Denver’s ensuing drive, Marcus Peters picked off a Peyton Manning pass and returned it 55 yards for a score.

And a defense. The Broncos forced five turnovers in the win, including interceptions by Chris Harris and Aqib Talib – two of the best cornerbacks in the game – and three forced fumbles. The game losing fumble and then one earlier in the red zone.

Broncos’ receiver Emmanuel Sanders told NFL Media’s Deion Sanders following the victory that he hopes Denver incorporates more no-huddle into the offense moving forward.

Kansas City’s Pro Bowl running back finished with 125 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown.

“I was just trying to make a play and wasn’t careful with the ball”, Charles said. “We can’t just point fingers at him”, said Knile Davis, whose touchdown run with 2:27 left in the fourth quarter had given Kansas City the lead.

If you’re wondering, Manning still ended the contest with a Passing NEP of -1.08, which is brought down by his costly interception that went for a touchdown. Broncos coach Gary Kubiak continues to express confidence in the extreme makeover in the offensive line that includes a rookie left tackle in Ty Sambrailo and a guard in Mathis who was signed only two weeks before the regular season – on August 26 – will take hold eventually. The capper was a pass over the middle to Sanders, who slipped between the safeties and somersaulted into the end zone for the 16-yard touchdown reception.

The heat Manning has been receiving in the media recently has also been really unfair because, overall, the Broncos’ offense hasn’t played well around him.

“He’s obviously – he’s not done”, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said after. Smith’s suspension put the Chiefs in a tough spot, and cost them most when Manning scored the game-tying touchdown.

There were lots of positives to take away, as the pass rush continued to flourish from players not named Justin Houston.

In the third, the teams traded field goals for a relatively low-scoring period and a continued tie.
