Phantasy Star Online 2 coming to PS4

Still no updates on a Western release.

For now, we’ll just have to wait for more details and gameplay information about Phantasy Star Online 2 on PS4 later this year sometime.

Sega debuted the first promotional video for the television anime of its Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO2) role-playing game on Sunday during an Arks Festival stage event. We will get to see what the new and upgraded version of the game will look like in September.

Any Westerners now wanting to play the game have to settle for the South East Asian version that – while having English language options – unfortunately lurks behind a rather comprehensive IP block. The new enlargement is termed “Reborn: Episode 4”. During the Tokyo Game Show convention next month (Sept. 19-20), Phantasy Star Online 2 will be available to play on the convention floor.

Fans have been asking Sega for a Western version of the game for a while now, but it doesn’t seem like “Phantasy Star Online 2” will be coming to North America anytime soon. It also launched on PS Vita less than a year after its PC release.
