‘Pharma Bro’ Martin Shkreli Isn’t Exactly Lying Low After Arrest
Robert Capers, US attorney of the eastern district of NY, said the charges against Shkreli were “a securities fraud trifecta of lies, deceit, and greed”.

Martin Shkreli has been fired as chief executive from the drug company KaloBios Pharmaceuticals.
KalosBios Pharmaceuticals was a faltering business until Mr Shkreli was revealed to be an executive and key shareholder last month, when its shares climbed dramatically.
The infamous founder of Turing Pharmaceuticals was arrested last week on charges of security fraud and has been removed as CEO of the drugmaker KaloBios Pharmaceuticals ( KBIO ). Turing was at the center of the controversy that led to Shkreli’s nationwide infamy as the company purchased the rights to Daraprim and then promptly spiked its price by 5,000%.
KaloBios said Monday that it terminated Shkreli last Thursday, but it did not give a reason. The company has struggled to develop drugs that treat cancer and leukemia.
Shkreli has refused to apologize for jacking up the price of Daraprim from $13.50 to $750 a dose, and told a drug conference that he would like to have raised the prices higher to please his investors.
Hackers on Sunday changed the name of his Twitter account to “Martin The God”.
Prosecutors said in Brooklyn federal court that Shkreli repeatedly lost money for investors and then lied to them about it from 2009 to 2014. “Willing to donate hundreds of thousands to charities before I got to prison…” read another. The company also said he resigned from his post as a member of its board, NBC News reported.
Retrophin ousted Shkreli a year ago.
“‘Trying to find anything we could to stop him’ was the attitude of the government”, Shkreli said during the interview, in which he was accompanied by his lawyers.
KaloBios stock was halted on December 16 after news of the arrest. The company wouldn’t answer questions Monday about who will take control and when its shares will resume trading. Tony Chase, a board member that joined KaloBios in November when Shkreli acquired 70% of the company, has also left the company.

Shkreli added a tweet to the top of his Twitter feed Saturday saying that he was confident he would prevail.
