‘Pharma Bro’ May Be Slapped With New Charges, Prosecutor Says
Embattled former pharmaceutical CEO Martin Shkreli could face additional criminal charges in a closely watched fraud case, a federal prosecutor said Tuesday.

The prosecutor said that the new charges would be related to existing allegations that Shkreli and co-defendant Evan Greebel defrauded Retrophin and that no new individuals would be added to the case.
In December, he was ousted from his own company after being arrested on charges of securities fraud and insider trading.
Following the proceedings, Shkreli tweeted in response to a comment on the securities fraud charges he faces. Impax is in a challenging position, because the company still holds the national drug code on Daraprim and is therefore responsible for submitting and verifying pricing data to Medicaid, in addition to paying any rebates owed, according to Stat. He is also considering asking the judge that Shkreli and Greebel, who served as counsel to Retrophin, be tried separately. Martin Shkreli appeared Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court.
Matsumoto set a June 6 status conference hearing. Shkreli’s lead defense attorney, Benjamin Brafman, has cited the not guilty plea and mentioned that Shkreli plans to proceed to trial.
Brafman said that the defense has been inundated with 70 gigabytes of documents.
“We do not believe that this indictment will change in any way that affects Mr. Shkreli in a negative fashion”, said Brafman.
In January, he initiated a social media feud with the Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, months after bidding $2 million to buy the only copy of an exclusive Wu-Tang Clan album.
