“It is, it is”, Phelps said.
Denmark’s Pernille Blume beat a field of world and Olympic champions to take gold in the women’s 50m freestyle and Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri won the men’s 1,500m freestyle after dominating nearly from the start.
“Michael Phelps has ended his Olympic career in spectacular fashion”, said his broadcast partner, Dan Hicks.
Rio de Janeiro, Aug 14 (IANS) Michael Phelps won his fifth gold of the Rio Olympics and his 23rd overall as he powered the United States team to a win in the 4×100-meter medley relay on Saturday night in what he said was the final race of his career. “He’s too special”, Bowman said when asked if he was now hunting for someone to take Phelps’ mantle.
“So I think I have the wedding in order, and now it’s on to the party for the fun”, she added. It just feels good to know that the hard work did pay off and I was able to fight through some of the times that I went through the last two years and get back to where I actually wanted to be.
As previously reported, Phelps’ teammate Ryan Lochte told Lauer last week that Phelps wasn’t ready to retire just yet.
Very much like Usain, what helps to boost Phelps’ popularity even more is his generosity outside of the pool. It’s for a whole bunch of people that came before me and have been an inspiration to me.
Ledecky can now look forward to starting life as a student at Stanford University after opting against turning professional and the 19-year-old cannot wait to showcase her talents in the 2020 Tokyo Games.
“This is the way I wanted to hang my suit up”. “But you’re going to be seeing a lot of other wonderful people”.
After picking up two more medals on the final night of competition, Manuel said, “Going into the 50, I was pretty confident that hopefully I could get a medal if I executed the race to get a silver”. I’ve lived a dream come true.
Phelps is now the most decorated Olympian of all time, with 28 medals in all, but he is getting used to carrying a new kind of hardware in his role as dad. “In the spirit of the Olympics and inclusion, it’s great to see the best that Somalia has to offer”, said NBC’s Sanya Richards-Ross.
“It means so much to me to have the support from Maryland and the D.C. area, ” she said.
I remember watching Phelps swimming “B” finals because he couldn’t qualify in the top eight. “I won’t be in the pool”.
In the previous race, Simone Manuel anchored the USA women’s 4×100 meters medley team to the 1,000th gold medal in her country’s Olympic history.
