Phelps, Le Clos face off in 200 fly

Phelps won his record 19th Olympic gold medal Sunday night as part of the USA team in the the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay.

In case you missed it, Michael Phelps took home his 19th gold medal with three of his teammates in the men’s 400M freestyle final on Sunday night. It will be the fifth final for Phelps.

Swimmer Katie Ledecky’s bid to sweep the longer freestyle events at the Rio Games is on track.

World and Olympic record holder Phelps led throughout most of Monday’s semi-final before being pipped in the last 25 metres by Tamas Kenderesi of Hungary, who finished 0.16 ahead of the American.

Le Clos won a silver medal earlier in the evening in the final of the 200m freestyle event and is hoping to repeat his heroics of London where he upset Phelps in the 200m butterfly.

Britain’s Siobhan-Marie O’Connor was second fastest.
