Phil Jackson ‘Sad’ About Firing Derek Fisher But ‘Not Discouraged’
“I have big confidence in his ability to coach this team”, Jackson said of Rambis, who met with players on Monday. “I chose to make that decision to trust in the Knicks and trust in Phil. I have to continue doing that”. Can’t shy away from that. “Obviously, I am disappointed, but have learned an huge amount from this experience and hope to grow from it”. Apart from the Knicks’ subpar performance for the season, so far, many believe that it was Fisher’s failure to execute things the way Jackson intended them for as the main reason.

The Knicks should have their eye on one coach and one coach only and that would be former Golden State Warriors head coach and ESPN analyst Mark Jackson. It could be in NY with Walton as the next permanent head coach of the Knicks, or both could end up with the LA Lakers.
Anthony has three years remaining on his five-year, $124-million deal contract, which includes a no-trade clause. “I have been through worse”.
“He had really bad timing from that standpoint, ” the friend said. At this point you become kind of immune to all… that goes on and the politics.
“You become, I don’t wanna say numb to it, but you understand that it’s part of the business”.
Anthony is still gifted enough to score in bunches, but the team will likely have to watch his minutes and rest him more to manage his knee.
Even before the firing of Fisher, Anthony’s name was linked to multiple trade rumors.
Because of the promise the 20-year-old brings to the franchise, it is very unlikely that Jackson and the Knicks are trading such a talented prodigy that they can build around for the future.
On Carmelo, he said that he is the team’s “leader”, he is “on board” with their plans and direction, and that “he’s going to move forward with this basketball club”.
‘It’s time for us to make a change, turn this team around and move forward, ‘ Knicks President Phil Jackson said Monday, hours after the team confirmed the move in a statement on its website.
“It’s not necessarily a matter of change”, Rambis said.

Kurt Rambis focused on getting Knicks into playoffs, not keeping job long term : Kurt Rambis’ stint as head coach of the Timberwolves from 2009-2011 was a disaster, but he’s getting a chance from his friend Phil Jackson to try to salvage a playoff berth out of this tailspinning Knicks season.
