Phil Jackson Targets Free Agent Jimmer Fredette For New — Knicks News & Rumors
Jimmer Fredette signed a camp deal with San Antonio Spurs this off-season. After his playing time dropped to just 10.2 minutes per game with the New Orleans Pelicans last season, and his points per game reached a career low 3.6, he seemed to have a chance to improve with the San Antonio Spurs. By cutting Fredette, the Spurs will have to eat the more than $500,000 they guaranteed him.

The Spurs also waived veteran guard Jimmer Fredette, rookie center Youssou Ndoye and veteran forward Deshaun Thomas to trim their roster to 16 players.
Both Williams and Butler have played a fair share of minutes during the Spurs’ five preseason games, and Friday’s preseason finale against Houston could signal who might earn that final spot.
With an organization so renowned for team play and ball movement, under the leadership of a coach like Gregg Popovich, Fredette couldn’t have asked for more.

When the Spurs signed Fredette, the club was looking to find an extra shooter at a bargain to fill out the roster after spending the bulk of its financial flexibility this summer to lure prized free-agent acquisition, LaMarcus Aldridge.
The problem with Fredette in his career, even dating back to his glory days at BYU, has been defense. He was among four players cut Wednesday, as teams must trim their rosters to 15 players ahead of the regular season.

Unfortunately, teams keyed in on the fact that Fredette was a one-trick pony and once they took away his ability to shoot the three, the rest of his weaknesses were brought to light. The 26-year-old was seen as a long-shot to make the team.
