Philadelphia Eagles Week 1: Who Impressed or Disappointed?

The conventional wisdom on playing against rookie quarterbacks was always fairly simple, and even accurate: Blitz them, make them react while they’re still in the “thinking” stage of their National Football League lives and they’ll unravel under pressure. His second game against the Bears – a road game on Monday Night Football – figures to be a step up in degree-of-difficulty.

Since 1960, there have been only three rookie quarterbacks to throw for 275+ pass yards, 2+ pass touchdowns, and no interceptions in a season opener: Jim Kelly in 1986, Robert Griffin III in 2012 and Carson Wentz in 2016. “That’s what we did this year”. Win, lose, or draw you have [to] correct it and put it behind you. “All we’re thinking about is winning and just getting ready and prepared for a good Philadelphia team”. We came out here and played football. Bradford was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, who were desperate because Teddy Bridgewater suffered a season-ending injury. “It looks now that Philadelphia is going to be very well-rewarded for the risk they took on draft day giving up a lot of stuff to get this guy because he looks like he’s going to be a long-term hell of a quarterback”.

“It’s not anything that I’m going to rush back into”, he said. Listen, I know there’s always outside influences. “I do think it will be interesting to view how they [the Eagles] view Jay Cutler differently than RGIII” Thayer finished. There are going to be bad plays. At least Chicago’s blockers will have some more time together. All week he said if they go zone, it’s coming to that backside dig. “We’ll look back and see where he is over a period of time”. We’ve just got to get him some more reps than what he had before. But he did lead a few good drives anchored by deep balls to wide receivers Terrelle Pryor Sr. and Corey Coleman, both who made great catches. And then they passed on Wentz as well despite their most established scouts – the only ones, actually – in the organization preferring Wentz to Goff.

“I was really happy for Nelson to get that touchdown”, Ertz said. “If you watch my reaction, I was as surprised as anybody else”.

“[Wentz] is pretty damn impressive”, said Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. There’s a song on there called ‘Fly Over States, ‘ and it made sense because where he lives is a ‘fly over state, ‘ said the Eagles player from Madison, Ala. He’s a humble guy from North Dakota and I’m a humble guy from Alabama.

“That’s the one thing about him and his maturity level is how well he does balance work with some of the outside influences, whether it be the media or [jersey sales] or autographs, things like that”, Pederson said.

“We’re trying to grow off the field as well as get better on the field”, Matthews added.
