Philadelphia Eagles working to send highly-paid cornerback Byron Maxwell to Miami
So when NFL Media reported the Dolphins were interested in acquiring Maxwell via a trade, it raised some eyebrows.

Well, that may be the Dolphins’ problem now.
In that case, the Eagles would also be relieved of the final five years of Maxwell’s contract, one many local pundits have railed against. He wasn’t a game-changer, but he wasn’t a complete train wreck either.
Maxwell, 28, signed a six-year, $63 million deal last season.
Maxwell has been in the National Football League for five seasons after being drafted in the sixth round by the Seattle Seahawks in 2011. He is set to make $9.5 million in 2016 and could become a cap casualty.
If the Eagles were to lose out on Carroll and trade Maxwell, the team would be left with Eric Rowe, Jaylen Watkins, Denzel Rice, JaCorey Shepherd and Randall Evans at cornerback.
The NFL’s legal tampering period began Monday at noon, and teams can sign free agents starting on Wednesday.

According to a person familiar with the situation who requested anonymity, the Eagles and cornerback Nolan Carroll have continued to have discussions about a contract as free agency opens up.
