Philadelphia guman who shot at police and civilians is dead

The attack started at about 11:20 p.m. when Young, a 19-year law enforcement veteran, was sitting in her patrol vehicle, Ross said.

Ross later said a “rambling” note, expressing hatred toward law enforcement, and believed to have been written by the gunman, was found at the scene.

Police earlier said a suspect was in custody, but media outlets are reporting a suspect was shot and killed.

Mayor of Philadelphia Jim Kenney praised the officers and pleaded with them to follow Young’s example and wear their protective vests.

Two police officers in Fort Worth, Texas, were also shot in the line of duty on Friday.

Ross said two police officers and University of Pennsylvania police officer Ed Miller chased the man into an alley, where the suspect was shot and killed. I think we have to keep them in our prayers.

Police did not release the names of the suspect and the others injured during the chase.

A report via Philly.com cites court records indicating Nicholas Glenn had a criminal record consisting of Philadelphia drug-possession convictions.

The rape case was withdrawn by prosecutors in December 2011 for reasons that are now unknown.

Commissioner Richard Ross said, “This is a completely freaky situation”. Ross said she is talking and is going to be OK.

But “we have no reason at this point to believe” Friday’s shooting “is related to any beliefs of a religious nature or anything like that, just feelings about police departments and police officers in general and probation officers”, said Ross, the police commissioner. Miller was wounded. On Saturday morning, both Miller and Young were in stable condition at Penn Presbyterian Hospital. The suspect fled on foot, and police gave chase. Police said Miller was shot in the pelvis and right ankle.

To date authorities have yet to to tell what motivated Nicholas Glenn’s shooting spree which they called freakish as they now seek to understand the moments leading up to Glenn approaching Sgt Sylvia Young’s patrol auto and maniacally shooting at her….
