He criticized the United Nations response to the Syrian conflict, citing the iconic image of a bloodied child in Aleppo as a prime example.

Last week, two United Nations human rights experts urged Manila to stop the extra-judicial executions and killings that have escalated since Duterte won the presidency in May on a promise to wipe out drugs.
Among those invited by her panel are Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald M.de la Rosa, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Isidro Lapeña, National Bureau of Investigation Director Dante Gierran, Interior and Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno, and Commission on Human Rights Chairman Chito Gascon.
This photo taken on July 19, 2016 shows residents behind a police line looking at the two dead bodies of an alleged drug dealer after a drug bust operation that turned into a gun fight in Manila.
The U.N.’s special rapporteur on summary executions, Agnes Callamard had pointed out that by giving security to the police and vigilantes who carried out killings, Philippines was violating global law.
Callamard suggested that Philippine officials could be held liable.
Just days earlier, United Nations experts called on Duterte and the Philippine government to put a stop to the killings of suspected criminals who haven’t had their day in court.
“There is no due process in my mouth”, Duterte has said about his anti-drug campaign. Duterte has openly encouraged vigilantism, telling a crowd in June, “Shoot [a drug lord] and I’ll give you a medal”. I tell you, you are [useless]. There are more than 1,000 people killed in the campaign, according to media reports. Men take turns to sleep on the cracked cement floor of an open-air basketball court, the steps of staircases, underneath beds and hammocks made out of old blankets.
“If you are that rude, we might just as well leave”, he added. At the same time, Yasay assured the Philippines will remain a member of the United Nations, saying the comments made by Duterte the previous day that he will pull the Philippines out of the United Nations were taken out of context.
Calling the UN “inutile”, Duterte said the Philippines could invite China, African nations and other countries to create a rival worldwide body.
On Fri, Aug 19, De Lima addressed Duterte’s allegations against her, saying there were “snippets of truth” in them. “Is that stupid body complaining about the stench there of death”.
“Repercussions? I do not give shit to them, they are the ones interfering”. Duterte is set to become the Philippines’ next president after Monday’s election.
