Philippines Foreign Secretary: We’re not leaving the UN
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to withdraw his country from the United Nations amid global scrutiny surrounding the deaths of hundreds of drug suspects since he was sworn into office in June.

The president made the comments after two of the agency’s human rights experts released a statement last week calling for the Philippine government “to put an end to the current wave of extrajudicial executions and killings” in Duterte’s campaign against drugs. About 1500 suspects have been killed since May, when Mr Duterte came to power – many of them by civilians.
“I don’t give a sh*t about them”.
He has already irked the United States, one of the key allies of the Philippines, by branding its ambassador to the country, ‘ a gay son of a whore’ for making his opinion known about the Duterte’s drug policy during the election campaign, which already has sparked off a diplomatic row.
Methamphetamine use has surged in the Philippines in recent years, and organized crime groups are involved in the trade, but human rights advocates have warned that vigilantes are likely killing innocent people and petty addicts along with dealers.

The U.N. has condemned the “war on drugs” as a human-rights violation, prompting Duterte to publicly venture that he may pull the country from the organization. “If you’re that rude, son of a bitch, we’ll just leave you”. When were you here last time?
Duterte’s spokesperson, Ernesto Abella, also told a separate news conference at the Malacalanang presidential palace that the Philippines is not “decoupling” from the UN.
“You shoot a black there (in the US) dead”.
He also said the United Nations had not done enough to address hunger and terrorism, and had allowed big powers to bomb villages and kill innocent civilians in Syria and Iraq. “But I can assure you that he remains committed to the United Nations, of which the Philippines is one of the founding members”. “I do not read (about) anybody from that stupid body complaining about the stench there of death”, he said.
Duterte has repeatedly insisted police have only killed in self defence, while maintaining the other deaths are due to drug syndicates killing each other. “You do not go out and give a shitting statement against a country”.

Asked about the possible consequences of his comments, he said: “What is.repercussions?”
