Phoenix Police Battle Bullets, Flames at Home

Crump says the possibility of toxic fumes from burned items delayed investigators’ entry into the home and that fire damage and debris will make work hard, such as finding shell casings.

Just before 5 a.m., police dispatch received a 911 call from someone inside the home indicating they had been shot and needed help.

Phoenix police say four people are dead including the gunman after a house fire and shooting. Around 45 minutes later more gunshots were heard and the fire began again.

Images from the scene showed firefighters on the roof of the residence as thick gray smoke billowed out and then as a fireball erupted through an opening in the structure.

Authorities said three Phoenix police officers were later treated for smoke inhalation, according to the Republic.

Police say a man driving a stolen auto has been critically wounded in an officer-involved shooting in west Phoenix.
