Phone home: Tim Peake fails to make contact from extraterrestrial mission
United Kingdom astronaut Tim Peake has been helping his crew members Scott Kelly and Tim Kopra conduct a space walk outside the International Space Station (ISS) on Monday.

If all goes according to plan, this would take place less than a week after he arrived at the space station, also becoming the first astronaut to live there.
NASA managers wanted them to move the rail vehicle so a cargo ship filled with nearly three tons of food and supplies can dock on Wednesday.
Year five pupils from Sandiway Primary School watched Tim blast off towards the International Space Station during a visit to the World Museum at Liverpool. “We get along famously with all the worldwide partners, and I hope the next step in our exploration, be it the moon or Mars, involves global partners”, Kopra said in a statement.
Tim Peake has 14 GB of space on his music player, and has taken up tracks by Muse, U2, Coldplay, the Foo Fighters and – for some reason – Nickelback. The station’s mission management team is targeting Monday for the spacewalk, but will meet again in a readiness review Sunday, Dec. 20 to make the final decision. The 43-year-old first Briton astronaut said he ate bacon sandwich as first meal on the space station.
As he does not have the time to reply to each message individually, he wrote: “The support for our launch was outstanding, and I want to thank each of you for the #GoodLuckTim messages”.
He says his first impressions of space go way beyond his expectations. You can then receive our daily newsletter AND add your point of view to stories that you read here. And he was looking forward to calling home on Christmas Day from this “wonderfully unique place to call friends and family from”.
