Talk about a tortured soul.

After countless teasers, Mercedes-Benz is finally ready to reveal the AMG-ified version of the all-new C-Class Coupe, which was revealed recently when media coverage was peaking for the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The new one gets an even more capable, if less exotic, engine: AMG’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8, a powerplant that will drive the rear wheels with 469 horsepower in the AMG C63 coupe and 503 horsepower in the AMG C63 S coupe. Power is up to 476bhp and 479ft lb of torque, whilst the C63 S gets a whopping 503bhp and 516ft lb.
As important as straight-line performance is in the land of the unlimited autobahn, AMG is moving to emphasize handling and cornering ability. It shows the C63 Coupe posing alongside a lesser C-Class Coupe model from the range prior to the vehicle’s respective debuts at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2015. It sits a whole 64mm wider at the front, and 66mm at the rear; this allows Mercedes to fit 255/40 R18 tyres on the front, and 285/35 R18 boots at the rear, with the C63 S getting larger 255/35 R19 front and 285/30 R19 rear tyres for increased traction.
Mercedes says the only things the AMG coupe shares with its regular C-class models are the doors, roof and boot lid, with a fresh, more muscular bodykit. The C63’s unique front and rear fenders contribute to making it 2.5 inches wider up front and 2.6 inches broader at the rear.

A performance package is also in the works, designed for the GLE 63 AMG S model. We don’t have the official numbers just yet, as they’re going to be released in a few hours, but expect it to line up nicely with the other AMG C63 models.
