Photo on Facebook of two dogs hugging saves them from certain death

Amazingly, just one day before they were due to be killed, Kala and Keira went home with their new dad. This is as urgent as urgent can get. From the time we posted on Facebook by the time the dogs were out of the shelter and safely in the car…2 hours and 6 minutes. We have no fosters available.

With an update to their original “plea for help”, the pet rescue center said to all of their donors, “You are AMAZING people and we are grateful beyond words for your support”.

Beneath the picture was a short note pleading for someone to adopt them.

But there are thousands of dogs just like them who are still waiting for their miracles.

He said: “Keira knows what will happen”.

‘Can you see our faces. She tells me to be fearless too but I don’t know if I can be. They’ll come for me next and I won’t be as fearless.’. We’ve comforted each other while we were here. “She’s putting on a fearless face for sure but I can feel her heart beating fast while I’m clinging to her”. “Now it’s over. Unless…”

Just hours after Etowah Valley Humane Society worker Malena Evans snapped a photo of two dogs hugging, the best friends found a new home together. One charitable man actually stepped up and adopted the pair. The picture was posted alongside a warning they were about to be euthanized and a heartbreaking story told from their perspective. No foster applications had been filed for either dog, meaning the shelter couldn’t afford to keep feeding them with the large influx of animals being housed in the building.

Megan Bowman, a representative of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, told us over email that both of the dogs are currently at one of their veterinarian clinics, but have not yet been adopted.

‘Thank you for your shares, donations and offers!
