Photos of Kaepernick wearing pig socks raise ire on social media
Kaepernick got only scattered boos before the game and during the anthem, but Chargers fans serenaded him while he led a 16-play, 85-yard scoring drive to open the game capped by DuJuan Harris’ 1-yard TD run.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is stirring more controversy with his apparent anti-police socks.
In fact, Freeman believes the 49ers will release Kaepernick before the season, effectively ending his football career.
The quarterback told the Mercury News on Tuesday that he doesn’t fear for his safety.
“The message is that we have a lot of issues in this country that we need to deal with”, Kaepernick said after the game.
“He’s just speaking out (but) he used a platform that many Americans don’t agree with”, Smith said on Tuesday. “That’s why it’s a sacrifice”.
Colin Kaepernick wore socks to a recent practice that show cartoon policemen done up as “pigs”.
Kaepernick wore the socks again on August 12. I’ll get some video later.
Kaepernick issued a statement on Twitter on Thursday after photos began circulating on social media of him wearing the socks that show a pig dressed in a police hat.
Kaepernick said he has two uncles as well as friends who are police officers.
“I’ve been very blessed to be in this position and to be able to make the kind of money I do”, Kaepernick said after San Francisco’s 31-21 win against the Chargers.
He was met by heavy boos from the crowd during pre-game warm-ups at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, which is home to US Navy and Marine bases.
Seahawks DB Jeremy Lane also sat during the national anthem tonight in Oakland.
The stance predictably sparked coast-to-coast debate with some public figures, like Presidential candidate Donald Trump, suggesting Kaepernick find a better country, to figures from the Civil Rights era like John Carlos, Kareem-Abdul Jabbar, Jim Brown and Dr. Harry Edwards voicing support.
