Beyonce may be nominated for her album-film “Lemonade“, but the stars embraced the drink’s bright yellow hue – not always easy to wear – for Emmys night.
But the hands-down stunner of the night – and two-for-one on the trend front – was Sarah Paulson in an emerald-green Prada gown with a plunging neckline that was fully embroidered in variegated crystals, stones, and plexi paillettes.
Sofia Vergara never does anything but look like a knockout on the red carpet, and she did it again in a seriously sexy curve-clinging Versace frock. However, she suffered a very unfortunate wardrobe malfunction in that dress.
Downton’s Laura Carmichael took a risk in her colourful number, but the Lady Edith actress pulled it off with elegance. But the evening’s reigning queen of the canary color was Angela Bassett, who hit the red carpet in a simple, elegant – and exceedingly yellow – gown by Christian Siriano.
Julianne Hough was absolutely ravishing in a red Armani dress, showing off her petite dancer’s physique to perfection. Heidi Klum’s custom diamond pavé silk-crepe cutout gown from Michael Kors Collection was technically white but sparkled like silver under the lights, and Padma Lakshmi’s liquid silver Naeem Khan gown made her look like she was sheathed in mercury. But it was an absolute victor for the actress, who can pretty much do anything. “Modern Family” stars Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland both opted for a pair, with Winter pairing her sparkling gown with Stuart Weitzman’s Nudist sandals, and Hyland in a metallic pair with her Monique Lhuillier ensemble. She was fearless. She dared to be different.
Familiar faces from some of 2016’s hottest shows – Game of Thrones, American Horror Story and Stranger Things – attended the 68th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles looking completely different from their on-screen alter egos.
