Pierre-Paul holds charity event in South Florida

Pierre-Paul took to Twitter Sunday to joke about his hand, which had a finger amputated following a Fourth of July fireworks accident.

There’s still no indication when Pierre-Paul might feel good enough about his physical recovery to join the Giants, who have been frustrated that he hasn’t allowed their doctors or trainers to examine him. The man they call JPP has, of course, been working to return from an offseason fireworks injury which cost him most of the ring finger on his right hand and which has, no doubt, caused quite a bit of consternation amongst the Giants front office.

Rapoport writes that it is “up in the air” as to whether Pierre-Paul would be able to play Week 1 vs. the Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants open the regular season in three weeks, making it virtually impossible for Pierre-Paul to be ready for the opener September 13 in Dallas.

Earlier in the day, Pierre-Paul was in a more jovial mood on twitter.

Pierre-Paul was on the verge of a long-term deal with New York, but the Giants pulled their long-term offer off the table. Pierre-Paul also suffered a fractured right thumb and serious burns that required skin grafts. Coaches and teammates have texted the big defensive end, but have gotten only cursory responses.

As we saw in these photos, the injury to Pierre-Paul’s hand seemed very severe.
