Pills found at Prince’s home were labeled wrong

According to a new report, mislabeled pills found inside Prince’s estate contain the same drug that lead to his death, the powerful painkiller fentanyl.

The revelation gives more insight into what may have caused Prince’s overdose.

When the autopsy report for Prince surfaced in June, it became clear that the singer died from a lethal dose of a powerful opioid called fentanyl. But illegally manufactured fentanyl pills are readily available across America, reported CNN.

The publication notes that fentanyl was stashed inside aspirin and vitamin C bottles and that investigators are working under the assumption that the legendary singer took the deadly drug unknowingly.

At the beginning of the investigation into Prince’s death, sources told CNN that painkillers were found inside his Paisley Park compound and they could not find a valid prescription for the medication. “He was always ‘on, ‘ so he wouldn’t complain or say anything was wrong.”
Kim Berry, Prince’s longtime hairstylist, told Us similar stories about Prince’s use of painkillers. So, the question remains. “Naturally he took painkillers to ease his troubles but police are looking into if he was prescribed too many”, a source revealed.

The DEA issued a nationwide alert about fentanyl overdose in March 2015.

The 57-year-old “Purple Rain” star was outwardly a model of health who was known to be conscientious in his food choices and critical of musicians who abused drugs.

The evening before his death on April 21, Prince was seen visiting a Walgreens pharmacy for the fourth time that week.

He was discovered dead inside of an elevator in the complex. Presence of the drug was not tested in Prince’s case, but the levels of fentanyl in his system were more than enough to be toxic, the official said. But the Star Tribune reports that a source says the amount of fentanyl in his system was so high it would have killed anyone.
