Pilot Fire burning in San Bernardino County
A brush fire is burning near Silverwood Lake and the blaze has claimed almost 50 acres, according to a San Bernardino National Forest spokesperson.

Smoke rises from the Pilot fire near Silverwood Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department has deployed at least 12 engines, two crews, two tenders, one dozer and three chief officers to battle the blaze. A portion of Highway 138 was closed, and officials urged motorists to avoid the area. The fire is burning uphill toward a ridge above the lake.

Meanwhile, firefighters say they have a much bigger fire near the Central California coast 45 percent contained. Flames have consumed 57 homes.
