A small plane has crashed into a building near a Los Angeles airport, killing the pilot.
The crash was reported about 1:30 p.m.at 16145 West Hart St., just east of the of the airport runway and only one person was in the plane.
Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said the pilot was practicing touch-and-go landing, at the airport before crashing.
In a series of tweets, Shaw described the plane as a lite sport aircraft and that the pilot complained of something banging around upon take-off, and that the tower said his landing gear was loose.
The plane crashed just blocks from the San Diego (405) Freeway. Stewart says nobody on the ground was hurt and there wasn’t any fire.
The pilot said he would head back to the airport to land, but never made it, Shaw said.
