Pilot killed in plane crash at Bentonville airport
A pilot has suffered minor injuries after his single-engine airplane crashed at Range Regional Airport in Hibbing.

“Upon landing, it appears like maybe the wind caught him, and kind of sent him south of the runway pavement a bit where his wing caught into the grass”, Germolus said. The Hibbing Fire Department had the scene cleared after about an hour.
Joey Standley, who works at nearby Northwest Arkansas Winwater, said he and others saw a plane flying low near the hangar, then saw black smoke and called 911. His injuries weren’t believed to be life threatening. The National Transportation Safety Board is also investigating. Law enforcement was processing the scene, and airport officials planned to lift the aircraft up and move it to a hangar, where it could be secured until NTSB arrives to begin its investigation.
The plane did not burn, however fuel was leaking from the plane after the crash, and fire crews applied a foam blanket to keep fuels from burning.
“The response was good”, Germolus said.

This is the first plane crash at RRA in his 10 years there, said Germolus.
