The flight was canceled and rescheduled for Tuesday, according to the Press Association.

The delayed Airbus flight to Toronto set off on Tuesday morning, with passengers having spent Monday night at nearby hotels.

Jean-Francois Perreault, 39, and Imran Zafar Syed, 37, were arrested before they were due to take off on the Air Transat flight from Glasgow Airport at 1pm on Monday.

“We can confirm the arrest of two men in relation to being allegedly impaired through alcohol”, said a spokesperson for Police Scotland.

It is believed the cabin crew raised concerns over the pilots behaviour before the plane’s scheduled take-off at 1 p.m. local time. “We await results of judicial proceedings before commenting on the matter”, the airline said.

Any pilot or aviation staff convicted of exceeding the limit can be imprisoned for up to two years.

They did not enter a plea or declaration and both men were remanded in custody, with their cases continued for further examination.

Two pilots accused of being drunk at the controls of a transatlantic passenger plane have appeared in court.

And Colin and Justin, who have had several TV slots here and across the Atlantic, were among the 230 Air Transat passengers.
